Racha Islands |

Racha Yai is the nearest of Phuket diving sites and offers local year around scuba diving. On the north end of the island you'll find two beautiful bays which are know for both clear water and colorful coral formations suitable for both divers and snorkelers on holiday in Phuket. Both of the bays have almost swimming pool conditions and we often used these bays for students and try-diving. The best diving is off the east coast where the current a bit stronger. You can do a drift dive along the sloping rocks that is covered with colourful hard corals and large schools of tropical fish. Racha Noi is a bit further south is a very popular divesite for the more experienced divers. The depths are generally greater and the currents often stronger. Racha Yai offers huge boulders and a good chance to see manta rays and other pelagics. On the northern tip of the island you'll find a large pinnacle, which is one of Racha Yai's mere popular divesites. Look out for larger marine life like black tip reef sharks and eagle rays. |
